Black & Decker Paintstation

The Challenge:
To design a versatile home painting solution with the ability to manage brushes, paint, rollers, paper towels and other painting accessories.
The product had to be lightweight, easy to deploy and compact for easy storage.

Accomplishments:
• product was tuned for cost effective shipping (container maximization)
• features a removable and re-sealable roller tray
• added many user features without increasing tool complexity|
• product can be used in its upright position or it can be used low to the ground when folded up
• storage position features integral handles for easy carrying
• National Post / Design Exchange Bronze Award

Responsibilities: ID development, concept models, functional prototypes, mechanical design, tuned the product to hit exact price point, 3D CAD modeling, responded to shipping envelope constraints, liaison with overseas manufacturing.
